Sarah graduated from Kent State University last May with a nursing degree. Sarah has dreamed of pursuing a career in nursing since learning of her type 1 diabetes as a child. “Nurses have always been a huge part of my life,” she said, “and I was inspired to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse after receiving so much support over the years from Akron Children’s Hospital.” Sarah’s plan is to become a pediatric RN—I could see the passion that Sarah has in her heart for helping others. She adds that she’s very proud of herself for finishing her degree, that it has been a long ride through college, but she’s enjoyed every minute of it and is sad to see it come to an end.
Sarah spends most of her free time outside of school reading, walking, biking and hanging out with friends and family. She has a soft spot for fashion and loves shopping/thrifting and putting outfits together. Sarah used to be a figure skater when she was younger and although she’s not involved in it anymore, she still loves to go ice skating whenever she gets the chance.
Sarah wanted some of her pictures to be taken outside Henderson Hall (the college of nursing) where she’s spent most of her time. We explored some other spots on the beautiful campus as well, and couldn’t be happier with all the images we captured!
