Ice and Bokeh | Tallmadge, OH

February 26, 2022

In my backyard

What a magical morning! The rain had turned to ice overnight and created the most magnificent field of sparkling glory. The branches of the trees hung heavy with ice, many of them breaking in the process. I know the ice can be treacherous—I had to be very careful as I took one small step after another. The beauty my lens captured was worth every minute spent in the cold, trying not to slip on the icy ground.

Ice can create beautiful bokeh, or the blurry, out-of-focus points of light you see in these pictures. Bokeh makes us photographers smile and giddy with excitement. I hope you take a minute to browse and enjoy these images— you might even agree that winter in Ohio can be pretty amazingly beautiful!
